Global Recognition at LOOP Design Awards 2025
New Delhi, 24th September 2025: Harrow International School, Bengaluru, designed by CP Kukreja Architects (CPKA), has been honoured as one of the winners in the Architecture – Educational Buildings category at the LOOP Design Awards 2025. Selected from over 550 entries across 49 countries, the project stood out for its innovative integration of heritage, ecology, and pedagogy.
Organised in Portugal, the LOOP Design Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in architecture, interiors, and product design. This year’s edition showcased outstanding projects from leading practices worldwide, with Harrow International School, Bengaluru, emerging as a global benchmark in educational architecture.
Extending a 450-Year Legacy into India
Marking Harrow’s first campus in India, the school reinterprets the legacy of the 450-year-old institution within Bengaluru’s cultural and ecological context. The masterplan revolves around a preserved natural water channel, which serves as both a landscape feature and a unifying spatial organiser.
Academic, residential, cultural, and athletic facilities are interwoven with courtyards, shaded pathways, and landscaped spines, creating a seamless dialogue between the built and natural environment.

Sustainability at the Core
The design reimagines Harrow’s iconic brick architecture using locally sourced materials while drawing inspiration from Bengaluru’s palaces, gardens, and lakes. A 30-metre-high clock tower serves as both a symbolic anchor and an infrastructural core, reducing the campus’s ecological footprint.
Key sustainability features include:

Bioswales and rainwater management for water sensitivity.

North-south building orientation to optimise daylight and ventilation.

Shaded arcades and courtyards to reduce heat gain.

Integration of high-performance systems with passive climate strategies.
The campus has been awarded a USGBC Platinum rating, reinforcing its status as a model for sustainable educational environments.
